Stainless steel banding, also known as a stainless steel tie band, is a type of fastener used to fix or secure industrial components to poles. It is widely applied in the construction of passive optical networks and for electrical fastening solutions.
In 2013, Jera Line started to produce pole bands and bracket for aerial cable network line installation. Bands or strapping products and related accessories were design to bundle or secured industrial fittings together.
Banding system is a set of fastening material and special fixing devices. It versatility, durability and has an extremely high breaking strength which makes it a perfect option for heavier applications.
Here is a step - by - step guide on how to install stainless steel banding with buckles and tools:
1. Prepare Tools and Materials: Gather stainless steel banding, corresponding buckles, a banding tool (such as a whirley bird banding tool), scissors or a cutter, and safety gloves. Ensure that the of the banding and buckles is suitable for the object to be fixed.
2. Measure and Cut the Banding: Measure the length of the stainless steel banding according to the size of the object to be fixed. Generally, the length of the banding should be about 20% longer than the actual required length to ensure a firm fixation. Use scissors or a cutter to cut the banding, and make sure the cut is smooth to avoid scratching during installation.
3. Thread the Banding through the Buckle: Slide one end of the stainless steel banding through the buckle, and then fold the banding beneath the buckle, pressing it firmly in place. This forms a loop of the banding.
4.Wrap the Banding around the Object: Place the banding around the object to be fixed, such as a cable or a pipe, and ensure that the banding is closely and evenly attached to the object without looseness or gaps.
5.Thread the Other End through the Buckle: After wrapping the banding around the object, thread the other end of the banding through the buckle again to prepare for tightening.
6.Tighten the Banding: If using a whirley bird banding tool, thread the tail end of the banding through the tool, and then turn the handle of the tool to tighten the banding to the required tension. If using other types of banding tools, operate according to their respective instructions, such as repeatedly squeezing the handle of the band - loc tool to tighten the banding.
7. Cut off the Excess Banding: After tightening, use the cutting function of the banding tool or scissors to cut off the excess part of the banding. Try to keep the cut end neat to avoid potential safety hazards caused by sharp edges.
8. Fix the Buckle: Gently hammer down the wings of the buckle with a hammer to make it fit more closely with the banding, ensuring a firm fixation and a smooth surface.
9.Inspect the Installation: Finally, check the fixing effect of the stainless - steel banding to ensure that the object is firmly fixed and the banding is not loose. If necessary, readjust the tightness of the banding.
